Summer Equestrian Camps

2017 Schedule

To register for Equestrian Day Camps, please contact Tammi Gainer at 330.935.2300 ext. 104 or email tammi@pegasusfarm.org. Payment for the camp is required at time of registration to reserve your place in the class. Open to students of all abilities, ages 8 to 16, although some eligibility criteria is established for each program. Each student will receive a healthy snack and handouts covering the lesson's content.  

"Hands On Horses" Summer Day Camp

Each day will include an unmounted theory lesson, groundwork with your horse, grooming, tacking and best of all-riding a horse! 

All of this will be accomplished while building a foundation of safety habits.

Learn all about horses and how to work with them including:

  • Horse handling/leadership/horse care
  • Herd behavior/body language/communication
  • Showmanship
  • Basic independent riding skills
  • Grooming and tacking
  • Breeds, markings and colors
  • And so more!

Each student will receive a healthy snack and handouts to take home that reinforce the skills learned in class. 

Dates:

    Session #1: June 19 - 23

    Session #2: July 10 - 14

Time: 

9 a.m. - noon

Ages:

8-16 years

Cost:

$275 per session

  • Limited to 6 students per session.
  • For the safety of all, there is a weight limit of 200 pounds.

Equestrian Vaulting Camp

An equestrian sport that is growing in popularity, Vaulting combines dance and gymnastics performed on the back of a moving horse. The activity promotes balance, confidence and a oneness with the horse in a safe, supportive environment. Many students have taken vaulting lessons as a means of improving their riding skills. Others find it a unique and challenging sport in itself. 

Each morning will begin with stretching, muscle-building and team-building exercises, moving to the vaulting barrel, then moving to the horse.

9 a.m. - noon

Ages:

6-18 years

Cost:

$175.00 per student

  • Limited to 12 students.
  • For the safety of all, there is a weight limit of 160 pounds.

Carriage Driving

Carriage Driving is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the country. The activity offers unique challenges that stress the importance of your horse as a partner. Topics include:

  • Harnessing
  • Rein board and bit theory
  • Carriage parts, functions and types
  • Long-lining

Session: August 1, 2 and 3

Time: 

9-11 a.m.

Ages:

10 years to adult

Cost:

$150 per student

  • Limited to 6 students.
  • For the safety of all, there is a weight limit of 250 pounds.
