A great deal of research has been done regarding the benefits of participating in equine-assisted activities for persons with disabilities. Every day thousands of individuals with and without special needs experience the rewarding benefits of equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT).

Interaction with horses has been proven to be highly rewarding for those with a physical, cognitive or emotional special need. Some of the most common benefits include:

Horses by nature offer unconditional acceptance and are an excellent vehicle for engagement. Students develop respect for the large creature that responds to their needs. They bond through physical touch that occurs through grooming, tacking and guiding. The responsive nature of the horse connects them to their rider in a very unique manner that is appreciated and valued.
