Our Horses

Austin
I had been working the Western Show Circuit when I arrived at Pegasus. I must admit, I now have kind of taken to this English riding. I really enjoy working with the classes that use lots of props and play games. When I am used to a leader, I get in tune with them and relax and enjoy the ride! I may seem a bit elusive when you first meet me, but I am sort of a no-nonsense type of horse. I am, however, learning to soften with all of the grooming and fussing over me. I am just a too cool paint!

Blossom
I am a miniature horse and the smallest member of the Pegasus herd. And although I may be tiny, I have a big heart filled with lots of love for all who come to the farm for a visit. I guess you could call me the head of E.P.R. That’s Equine Public Relations! I am always ready, with my prettiest bonnet in my tote to greet our public and let everyone know about Pegasus Farm. So if you ever see us out and about feel free to give me a pat! I’ll be the one in the flowery hat!

It isn’t just my gorgeous good looks, or my sweet personality that people love about me, I am also very willing to pull the carriage, and have quickly become an integral part of the driving program. Charlie
I spend most days hanging my head over my stall door, keeping an eye on everything that is going on. It’s a big job, but someone has to do it. When not keeping an eye on the barn, I love working in classes. My extensive training makes me an excellent choice to help students learn riding skills, leading skills, and grooming skills. I love being a part of everything, and my slight goofball personality has made me a favorite of staff, riders and volunteers.

Dude
Dude is a registered Haflinger gelding, whose registered name is “A Cool Dude,” and we couldn’t agree more. He is 21 years old, but don’t let his age fool you, he is young at heart. Prior to coming to Pegasus, Dude retired from eventing, but he has done drill team work, and also driving. Dude has transitioned effortlessly into his new job, and everyone that has worked with him says he is just the best. He has a fun, willing attitude, and loves meeting all the new volunteers and staff members, and of course really enjoys working with our students.

Dusty
Dusty may be a little on the older side, but we won't talk about his age. It's the wisdom of his years that matters the most. This guy has done it all in his lifetime. He has been a camp horse, a show jumper, a trail horse, and a lead line horse in his past. Dusty has taken everything in stride here at Pegasus, and of course, nothing has fazed him. He cruised right into our program and has endeared himself to staff and volunteers. They often mention how cute his curly mane and forelock are and how interested he is in being a part of everything. He is, after all, a pretty amazing pony. He is an excellent addition to our herd!

Though I may be descended from the great thoroughbred race horses, I prefer to go much slower. Before coming to Pegasus I was a show horse, and loved to show off my under saddle skills at the horse shows. Turns out I can put all those skills to work here at Pegasus also! I have become a great steady mount for various levels of students, and my easy going gaits make me a perfect horse for those students who are learning more advanced skills.

Silver
Who is the stunningly handsome gelding in the Barn? It's Silver! Not only does he have dashingly good looks, but he has personality too! Before coming to Pegasus, Silver raced as a 3-year-old in Upstate New York (Jockey Club name, "You Got the Silver"). He only raced for one year and was then retired. After his retirement from racing, he was trained in Competitive Trail, Show Hunters, and Dressage. He is such a sweet guy and has easily transitioned to life here at the Farm.
