Our Horses

Austin
I had been working the Western Show Circuit when I arrived at Pegasus. I must admit, I now have kind of taken to this English riding. I really enjoy working with the classes that use lots of props and play games. When I am used to a leader, I get in tune with them and relax and enjoy the ride! I may seem a bit elusive when you first meet me, but I am sort of a no-nonsense type of horse. I am, however, learning to soften with all of the grooming and fussing over me. I am just a too cool paint!

Blossom
I am a miniature horse and the smallest member of the Pegasus herd. And although I may be tiny, I have a big heart filled with lots of love for all who come to the farm for a visit. I guess you could call me the head of E.P.R. That’s Equine Public Relations! I am always ready, with my prettiest bonnet in my tote to greet our public and let everyone know about Pegasus Farm. So if you ever see us out and about feel free to give me a pat! I’ll be the one in the flowery hat!

Bumpy
Bumpy is one of our gentle giants here at Pegasus Farm and always has his head hanging over his door talking to whoever walks by. Throughout the week you can find bumpy working in one of the independent Take Flight classes as well as doing horsemanship with the participants in the Wings program. Bumpy has been serving Pegasus students since October of 2019.

It isn’t just my gorgeous good looks, or my sweet personality that people love about me, I am also very willing to pull the carriage, and have quickly become an integral part of the driving program. I may be a bit of a diva in the barn, but when it comes to work, I take my job seriously, and really want to please.

I spend most days hanging my head over my stall door, keeping an eye on everything that is going on. It’s a big job, but someone has to do it. When not keeping an eye on the barn, I love working in classes. My extensive training makes me an excellent choice to help students learn riding skills, leading skills, and grooming skills. I love being a part of everything, and my slight goofball personality has made me a favorite of staff, riders and volunteers.

Being new here is an exciting thing, and I am learning what it takes to be a Therapy Horse. So far, I think I might like it. In the barn I like to keep my eyes on what is going on, just in case I see something interesting. They say I am the perfect size, and they love my personality. I can’t wait to see what my future holds here at Pegasus Farm!

Dude
Dude is a registered Haflinger gelding, whose registered name is “A Cool Dude,” and we couldn’t agree more. He is 21 years old, but don’t let his age fool you, he is young at heart. Prior to coming to Pegasus, Dude retired from eventing, but he has done drill team work, and also driving. Dude has transitioned effortlessly into his new job, and everyone that has worked with him says he is just the best. He has a fun, willing attitude, and loves meeting all the new volunteers and staff members, and of course really enjoys working with our students.

Honey is considered the sports car version of a driving horse here at Pegasus and is not only beautiful to look at, but she has all the bells and whistles too. Honey also loves her job as a riding horse and can be seen in many of the Take Flight Programs throughout the week. Honey has been serving Pegasus students since March of 2017.

Jackson is one of the youngest horses here at Pegasus and tends to be a little mischievous! He works hard in class and loves when they get to jump! He is definitely a favorite of the students! Jackson also enjoys his naptime and lays flat out on his bed of sawdust just after breakfast. Jackson has been serving Pegasus students since June of 2018.

Though I may be descended from the great thoroughbred race horses, I prefer to go much slower. Before coming to Pegasus I was a show horse, and loved to show off my under saddle skills at the horse shows. Turns out I can put all those skills to work here at Pegasus also! I have become a great steady mount for various levels of students, and my easy going gaits make me a perfect horse for those students who are learning more advanced skills.

Before coming to Pegasus I was a commercial driving horse in Hanoverton, PA. I came to the farm in 2018 to be the new vaulting horse. I now carry the Advanced Vaulting team. I am very friendly and love to great people as they walk in through the barn. My skills don’t stop at vaulting though, I also work in advanced riding classes.

I have been driving for as long as I can remember. The change of pace from my old job was great, and I have learned so much here at Pegasus Farm. They sure make a big deal about me here! From what I hear, they say my driving skills can’t be beat, and I am pretty good under saddle as well. I am also known for my easy going and kind personality. Brains, brawn, and dashing good looks, what more could anyone ask for?

I am a very special pony! Not only do I have the name of a certain famous snowman, I am just as cute! I have really found a place here at Pegasus, and I love working in classes. My shorter size makes me perfect for some of our smaller riders. Did I mention that I love talking to everyone, and I have taken it upon myself to be the official greeter in Amy’s Barn.

My gypsy heritage makes me one of the prettiest horses on the Farm. My beautiful pinto color, and long main and tail are all part of who I am. Did I mention my feathers? All this hair is hard to maintain, so that is why I love being groomed. I get extra dirty just to make sure I get groomed. I am not just pretty pony, though. I am known to be slow and easy for beginners, and if asked can put more pep in my step for the advanced riders. I am a definite favorite!

I may be a solid chestnut in color, but I am actually a registered Paint horse. I have been a lesson horse for many years prior to coming to Pegasus. I enjoyed being an excellent beginner’s horse. I am retired now, and like to spend my days watching what is going on in the barn from my stall, and spending time out in pasture with my friends.

Shazam
Therapy horse of the year -2022
You might say that I was a little uncertain of the move when I first came to Pegasus. I stayed a little shy and fearful for a while. But after I found out just how much fun it is here….Ala-Shazam…it was like magic! I can still be a little shy when meeting new people, but I love my class work and being groomed. I have become a slow and steady mount for many of our riders. Ii guess I just needed to find the place where I belong!

Silver
Who is the new, stunningly handsome gelding in the Barn? It's Silver! Not only does he have dashingly good looks, but he has personality too! Before coming to Pegasus, Silver raced as a 3-year-old in Upstate New York (Jockey Club name, "You Got the Silver"). He only raced for one year and was then retired. After his retirement from racing, he was trained in Competitive Trail, Show Hunters, and Dressage. He is such a sweet guy and has easily transitioned to life here at the Farm.

Therapy Horse of the Year - 2021
Spanky is my name and fun is my game! As a Haflinger I have great strength and determination. I am quite intelligent and very playful. I love working in classes, especially with students who need a super steady, laid back, and slightly shorter horse. There was a time that I was asked to be a driving horse, but I really enjoy being a riding horse more.

Class work comes naturally to me, as I prefer to go slow and steady. I get to work with a lot of people too, and that is the best part of the job.

Before I came to Pegasus, I was part of a team with the "Best Horse Drawn Carriage" business. I was privileged to pull wagons, carriages and most importantly the funeral casket carriage for our fallen soldiers. My teammate Star and I performed our duties as well. We were ready for a change of pace, and Pegasus was perfect! I loved being a part of the driving program, but I am happily retired from driving. I still like to be groomed, and I am really good for unmounted lessons. It’s all part of my retirement plan!
