Volunteering at Pegasus Farm
Meet the Volunteer Coordinator
Hello, my name is Peggy Walchalk. It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to the Pegasus Farm family as volunteer coordinator. I recently retired from a career in higher education and have volunteered at the Akron Zoo as an EdZoocator for over ten years. My favorite part of volunteering is connecting with others and creating new and diverse friendships. I, of course, like to stay busy and connect with friends and family. In the spring of 2024, I welcomed a new addition to my family, a rescued cat, Missy Kity, who has warmed my heart.
Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering at Pegasus Farm. We have many opportunities available both working with our equestrian program and with many other areas!

Why Volunteer?
Pegasus Farm has many opportunities and areas for volunteering. There's a good chance Pegasus Farm has opportunites that will match your interests and hobbies. From assisting students in classes, horses in the barns, landscaping, gardening, maintenance, offices, art and camp programming, special events, fundraising, committees, the list goes on and on.
Our dedicated volunteers are those who help Pegasus fly like its namesake, the mythological winged horse. They provide more than 16,000 hours of service every year, making our Pegasus community possible and affordable for our participants. The hard working volunteers at Pegasus Farm are the heart of Pegasus, we could not do what we do without them! Getting the opportunity to build positive new relationships with other caring, supportive volunteers and staff is another plus. At Pegasus Farm, we greatly appreciate our volunteers.
We are always in need of volunteers in all areas on the Farm!
Volunteer Orientation Classes
We currently provide volunteer orientation classes once per month. They are always from 5:00 to 7:30 PM and require an RSVP. If not enough people sign up for the class or there is extreme weather, we may cancel it.
