Volunteer Opportunities

Equestrian

Equestrian volunteers help with our horses and support students in classes. Volunteers do basic barn work cleaning stalls, filling water buckets, turning horses out and sweeping. During class times, volunteers will be preparing (grooming and tacking) the horses for class, leading the horses or side-walking along with the rider.

A caring heart, patience, compassion, and an interest in learning new things are requirements when working with our horses and students. Volunteers must be polite, courteous and respectful, even in challenging circumstances. Volunteers must be dependable and consistent in attendance and performance. We recommend that anyone who wants to be a equestrian volunteer, to commit to weekly volunteering at the same day and time every week. Our students count on them, not only for assistance, but also for the social interaction that is vital to their emotional and physical well-being.

The rewards are many, but the best is the magic of watching individuals enjoy new experiences and accomplish new goals.

Wellness Garden

Have you been out to our Country Store and Wellness Gardens? The Gardens have blueberry bushes, apple and pear trees, and lots of varieties of summer crops. There is always a crop to be hoed, harvested, and gathered. Additionally, we have high tunnels that enable us to grow some crops during the cooler months. We also cut and prepare flower bundles to sell at the Store. All of our Wellness Garden volunteers work directly under the supervision of our horticultural manager. As with all of our volunteers, we try our best to accommodate your schedule and can work around your availability when it works best for you.

Landscaping

Landscaping volunteers help maintain our beautiful flower beds and gardens around the property. From the tulips in the spring to the mums in the fall, there are always many flowers blooming all the time. Not to mention keeping up with our lawn and landscaping bushes. Some of our landscape volunteers and staff help us maintain that part of our landscape. Our landscape volunteers are currently busy twice a week during the nicer weather, but days and times can be flexible to your schedule.

Maintenance

It is always helpful to have an extra hand around when it comes to maintenance. With 120 acres at Pegasus Farm, there is always work to be done. Our maintenance volunteers work making sure the equipment is in working order, helping maintain the equestrian arenas, and brush hogging, just to name a few. Our maintenance volunteers work under the guidance of our farm manager.

Special Events

Pegasus Farm hosts many events that open up our farm for the community to take a look at our activities and programming.  At these events, there is always a need for set up, take down, parking, manning tables and so much more.  It is not uncommon for us to need volunteers to help donate baked goods for events, run the hot dog machines, parking, raffle baskets…you name it.  Our special event volunteering can be extremely flexible, maybe only volunteering once or a few times per year to help out with some of our events.

Office

Looking to volunteer for something low key? Office volunteer might be what you are looking for. We often need someone to help with some filing, data entry, mailings, and more. Some of our office volunteers come on a weekly basis, some of our office volunteers come out only when there is a need which may only be once a month.
